POINT SPARRING
Point Sparring is scored by the judges, a Chief Judge and 2 Corner Judges. Athletes will have 2 minutes to score as many points as possible (up to a lead of 12 points) by striking/kicking to the body for 1 point, striking the head for 1 point, kicking to the head for 2 points, or jump kicking to the body or head for 3 points. The round is stopped to score points and ended after 2 minutes or when 1 opponent is 12 points ahead.
CONTINUOUS SPARRING
Continuous Sparring is scored by three judges, a Chief Judge and 2 Corner Judges (all with point clickers). Athletes will have 2 minutes to score as many points as possible by striking/kicking to the body for 1 point, striking the head for 1 point, kicking to the head for 2 points, or jump kicking to the body or head for 3 points. The sparring is only stopped for infractions such as stepping out of the ring, kicking below the belt, willfully hurting the other opponent, and others. At the end of the 2 minutes the 3 judges will compare their points and determine the winner.
ONE-STEP SPARRING
One-Step Sparring (For White, Yellow, and Orange Belts) Demonstrates a Series of Techniques toward an Opponent without hitting the other competitor. Competition will be graded on good form of technique, speed, demonstration, and enthusiasm. This is a safe introduction to Sparring for beginner ranks.
BLASTER SPARRING
A FUN and EXCITING Sparring for athletes of all ages using kicking shields (Blaster Pads) to push their opponent out of the ring or cause them to fall down. Young athletes will blaster spar for 3 rounds and the winner will be the winner of 2 out of the 3 rounds. Competitors will have a BLAST with Blaster Sparring and it's a great intro to regular sparring.
GRAPPLING
For the first time we will be introducing Competitive Grappling for all ranks. Winners will be decided by a safe submission technique or by the competitor with the most points scoring 4 points for a Mount, Back Mount, Back Control (held for 3 seconds), 3 points for a Guard Pass, 2 points for a takedown, knee on the belly, and a sweep. Rounds will be 3 minutes long and Gis (Uniforms) will be worn for competition.
POWER BOARD BREAKING
The Power Board Breaking Competition is an exciting demonstration of power where students can demonstrate the power of their sidekick by breaking boards (graded by color) in an effort to break the highest ranking of colored board or multiple boards put together. (Re-breakable boards provided by the tournament host).
CREATIVE BOARD BREAKING
The Creative Board Breaking Competition is an exciting demonstration of creativity. The athlete sets up 3 stations. The first station is the opening break, the second station is the power break, and the 3rd station is the amazing finale! This breaking competition is judged very similarly to the forms in which enthusiasm, creativity, difficulty, and performance is taken into account to determine the winner. (Boards must be provided by the competitor)
